Mark's Story

Life & Other Notes: Currently living in Louisville, Ky working for the Army Corps of Engineers. Been here since May 09. Had been in Longwood, Fl (Just North of Orlando). Left Central Fla. for Tempe Arizona for a few years but somehow wound up back in FL despite loving the West. Lived in Longwood since 1983. No longer running Marathons and only diving in less than 40 ft. Lately, seems like so many of my friends retiring, seem to spend at least once a month getting together with old work acquaintances. Alcohol makes getting together with a bunch of auditors much easier. School Trying to remember things most about elementary, junior high, and high school. Elementary - I was a military brat and most of the elementary years were at St. Lukes Lutheran near Oviedo, Fl. Remember Tim Grant, Debbie Pyburn, Steve Pyburn, Rhonda Arndt, Pastor Tuhy, Joy, Sherry and several the others. Left Orl. in 1966 as Orlando AF Base ws being switched over to Navy. Bitburg Germany 1966-1969. Sister Donna Brother Paul grad. BHS in 68 & 69. David Taylor was 6th grade class pres. Played all sports and made lots of friends but no real way to stay in touch with any of them. Never got a chance to say good bye to Micki Johnson before leaving Germany in 1969. Update 10/27/08..Found Micki well, and happy. Hopefully get a chance to say hello the next time I'm there. Junior High - 3 different schools as result of moving. Last 2 were Memorial 8th (70-71) and the Brand New Westridge 9th(71-72). Highschool - Had the distinction of being team m...Expand for more
embers with Rick Watson, John Marshall, Dennis Devlin, Harvey Trejos, Otis Patton, and John Pennington (thank God Patton and Pennington were on our Team) they were tremendous athletes and were the original hitmen before there were hitmen, and Coach Chuck (Have you paid the price) Jensen to play in ORHS's first soccer team. Too many memories of going to Rossi's for Pizza and beer after games (18 was the legal age back then). PS.. those nets at ORHS were not the soccer nets from the local Catholic HS (no photo no proof). Tried to stay in touch with some alumni but until the infamous internet...its been tough. College Like so many people, it seems I spent a lifetime either thinking about or trying to obtain a degree. Went to Florida Southern in Lakeland during the 80's and finished undergrad in 1988. After several years with Dept. of Defense,... yes the world is a safer place now, went back to get MBA. Why... possibily either to teach on the side or to see how much I could endure or to use it to buy a cup of coffee at Starbucks. Workplace Most of my career has been with the Dept. of Defense and with the Navy as a civilian. I know for a fact I am a civilian because no one has ever measured me for a uniform. Currently working with Naval Inspector General's Office doing investigations. The work is sort of like the TV series NCIS but without the washboard abs, the 6ft 2 height, and the 20 something handsome looks. After surviving open heart surgery in 05, each day is a blessed one and I wouldn't have it any other way.
