Mark's Story

Life Still living in my beloved San Pedro, with my wife Teresa, our tiny wee baby Katherine Claire, and my 2 teenage stepdaughters, Geri and Rose. Mom and Dad are doing fine, but we lost my only brother Chuck in a tragic car wreck in '03. Now that I often am dropping off or picking up kids at Pedro High, I find myself time travelling back to high school days and remembering so many things. What a time that was.... School Hmm. Holy Trinity, Dodson, then Pedro High.. '76 thru '79.. What a rush.. College Well then, Cal State Long Beach hosted me as a Science major from '79 to '81. I then took some time off from school, but returned to earn my Bachelor's in Art. Sculpture ...Expand for more
and Printmaking were particularly successful for me. I am still creating artwork, just not in the course of my career. Workplace Wow! After High School I worked at Giuliano's Deli and the San Pedro Elk's Club while earning my Art Degree at CSULB, then Hughes Radar, then Robinson Helicopter. After becoming certified in Graphic Arts/Printing I became a typesetter and ultimately an engraver for a high end printing company. I began a career in Social work in 1993 with a local government agency and am now a manager for that agency, doing outreach and program work. Military Yikes! My Dad's a retired colonel and WWII tailgunner, but I never considered the military as an option.
