Mark's Story
So here's the update on the job and location front. Last August Susanne and I moved to Chicago--I am now the Chief Marketing Officer for Kmart Stores--all 1400 of them. New category for me (retail--have been a hotel guy all my working life) but the principles of Leadership still apply. I spent many a Saturday morning of my youth in the K store on Beechmont Avenue---just wishing I could get on the loud speaker and say "Attention Kmart Shoppers"...now I get to do it at every store I visit! Turning 50 this year and could not be happier!

Shortly after graduation from Glen Este, I met my wife of 28 years (she had just graduated from Indian Hill)--we dated for 3 and half years and were married in 1980. No kids (but I am a damn popular Uncle with all my brothers k...Expand for more
ids and their kids)! Currently living in Atlanta, I'm the SVP of Global Brand Management for Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express hotels. I've been the hotel business since 1980, and we have lived in Nashville, Charleston, SC., Scottsdale,AZ., Portland, Oregon, San Antonio, Texas, Memphis, TN. (twice), and now Atlanta.
I'm still an avid artist (Dorthy McLean beat the "practice" of art into me, and I am SO glad she did), and I get into my art studio as often as I can. Susanne and I are prolific art collectors--Outsider Art, Southwest Contemporary, and Spanish Folkloric are our favorite genres.
I get a kick out of reading the stories on Classmates, amazing how our lives have turned out. I just wish more of you from the Class of 77 were willling to share more than just your Q & A!
