Mark's Story
I graduated from Port High's Grade 13 in June 1977, then went to work for K-Mart Canada for a while in Brampton. I married in 1979 and started in the Business Administration program at Laurentian University in Sudbury that September. My first Daughter was born in March 1980.
After University, I worked for Unemployment Insurance on a contract basis for many years. In between these contracts, I moved to St Andrews NB for a year before moving back to Ontario and settling in Orillia. This is where my second daughter was born in 1986 and my marriage ended a few years later.
I remarried in 1992 and now have two sons and a daughter from this marriage, as well as two granddaughters through my second older daughter (who died in...Expand for more
2006). My federal service work with EI ended in 2003, and shortly after that my family and I moved to Alberta.
I have been involved with many community groups, and this is continuing in Alberta. Currently I an the lead reporter for the weekly Smoky Lake Signal newspaper, Secretary for the local Chamber of Commerce, member of several Boars for community volunteer groups and Town Councillor/Deputy Mayor. Where the future will take me is unknown, but I still remember my high school days - more so now that my oldest son is preparing to graduate this spring, with his younger sister and brother close behind!
It would be great to hear from my former classmates and learn where their lives have led through the past 35 years...
