Mark's Story
Life (in chronological order)
Since graduating from Wayne Valley, I attended American University and then dropped out for a year before earning my bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland.
After college, I moved to New York City where I lived with my wife, Nancy. We have two sons, Graham and Cameron who were born in 1989 and 1993 respectively. Nancy and I divorced in 2008 but remain close friends. We live in Fairfield, Connecticut, a town that bears many similarities to Wayne.
In April, 2011, I married Braden Bledsoe. She and I divide our time between homes in Black Rock, CT and Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. She is a beautiful woman and I am a very lucky man!
Career
My career began with The New York Times News Service after which I was a managing editor and syndicated newspaper columnist for what is now part of Tribune Media. At the time, I was a rock music critic, a book reviewer and also "Dear Debbie," the agony columnist(!).
I started working in the public relations profession in 1983. I am the CEO of PRIME Research, a research-based corporate and brand consulting firm before which I was Global Director and...Expand for more
Senior Vice President at Ketchum, an international top-five PR firm.
Prior to joining Ketchum in early 2007 I was the CEO and president of Delahaye, a research and consulting firm specializing in corporate reputation and brand marketing. Delahaye was sold in 2005.
In 2006, I wrote a book, "ÃÂUnleashing the Power of PR: A ContrarianÃÂs Guide to Marketing and Communication"ÃÂ which was published by John Wiley & Sons. The book is among Amazon.com's best sellling books within its category and has provided me with opportunities to speak around the world, most recently in the Czech Republic, the Ukraine, Slovenia and Brazil.
My best friends in life are those I met in Wayne: I'm in regular contact with Bob Pierce, Harlan Marks and Dana Taylor. I still see or talk with Frank Palmeri, Marty Solomon, Chris Ayoub and the always effervescent Pam (Viccaro) Pierce at least a couple of times each year. After all this time, no one makes me laugh more than these guys.
I don't get to Wayne too often now that my family has moved away but I appreciate the efforts Joe DiDonato has made to keep us connected. I'd love to hear from you.
