Mark's Story

Hi to all my former classmates...thanks for stopping by. Here is an update on my life since we were together at Jefferson High School. Following my graduation from Jefferson I enrolled in college, graduating from Illinois State University with a B.S. and M.B.A. in Business Administration. My wife, Candice and I married in 1980 and we are still together. After graduating from ISU, I accepted a position with a major oil company and moved around the country, living in the Chicago area, Kansas City, Denver, and Houston. I held positions in field sales, financial planning/budgeting, and domestic U.S. and international downsteam planning & economics. In 1983 I left the oil industry following our decision to return to the Denver area, settle down, and begin our family. We were blessed in 1989 with the birth of our son, Thomas James (T.J.) and in 1991 with the birth of our daughter, Mackenzie. In May 2013 T.J. graduated from the University of Colorado-Boulder Leeds School of Business with an under graduate degree in finance and a master's degree in accounting. Shortly after graduation he earned his designation as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). In September 2013 he started his career with Deloitte in San Francisco, CA as a member of their audit staff and later joined their merger and acquisition team. In 2016 he earned the designation of Charter Financial Analyst (CFA). In 2019 he accepted a position as VP-Operations with a private equity firm ...Expand for more
based in Miami, FL. In May 2017 Mackenzie graduated from the University of Colorado-Denver Business School with a triple major in accounting, finance, and IT systems. She is currently a senior member of the audit staff at Plante Moran in Denver, CO. I have been employed in the communications industry for almost 30-years and have been involved in the early phase start-up of two pre/post IPO high-tech companies. I have held multiple positions in sales, sales leadership, sales operations, business development, finance, planning & economic analysis, and the development of market segment strategy. In April 2019 I transitioned into semi-retirement and participate in part-time consulting projects that interest me. It has been a very exciting and rewarding career and I’m enjoying this phase of life. It's been a blessing to live in the Rocky Mountain region of the U.S. My family and I have thoroughly enjoyed all that this area of the country has to offer, including hiking, camping, snowboarding, rock climbing, and the seasonal beauty of the Rockies. Candice and I are still healthy and remain physically active. I get back to Rockford from time to time to see family, friends, and to attend our Jefferson High School reunions. I enjoy keeping in touch with my JHS friends and classmates. I thank God every day for his blessings of family, health, and abundant provision during my lifetime. Please feel free to drop me a note. I'd love to hear from you! MW
