Mark's Story

Life I now live in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and am teaching entrepreneurship at the University of Arkansas in the Sam M. Walton College of Business and redoing old houses in the historic district on spec. We have an old stone house that we have completely redone in the Wilson Park Historic District here. My cars include a '58 Edsel Wagon, a '59 Edsel Ranger, an '72 Eldorado convertible, an '07 GMC Yukon Denali, and an '08 Ford F-150. I still have a couple motorcycles as well as an Itasca 34-foot Class A motorhome. I used to live in a beautiful community of 6000 people in the Boston area in a house on 6 acres abutting The Charles River. I was a single father of two girls (Christy and Anna, now age 21 and 18) for some time, but in the summer of 2003 got remarried to a fabulous redhead landscape architect/painter. We have one child together, Olive Josephine Zweig, age two and a half. Both of my older daughters are doing great. Christy graduated from college here at the U of A in December, 2007, and teaches riding lessons at a local horse farm. Anna is a freshman at the U of A in business. Being my children, they of course are into cars and motorcyles. I am founder and CEO of a two-time Inc. 500 management consulting and publishing firm that works throughout the U.S. and in a number of foreign countries. I have redone a number of old houses and also restore and collect special interest motorcycles as well as ride a new Honda Goldwing. Of course, ...Expand for more
I still like cars, too, and have a few nice ones of those. My folks still live in Kirkwood, are 88 years old, and in great health. My I'd love to hear from any of my old KHS friends who care to get in touch. Kirkwood was (and is) a great town and I'm proud to say I was from there. College I went to undergraduate and graduate school at beautiful Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, Illinois, and today I am chairman of the college of business board of advisors there. Workplace I teach entrepreneurship at the University of Arkansas Sam M. Walton College of Business in Fayetteville, Arkansas. I also serve on several boards of directors as an outside director and am Vice Chairman of ZweigWhite. I have authored ten books, including Human Resources Management: The Complete Guidebook for Design Firms (the first and only hard cover text on this topic), Management Ideas That Work!, More Management Ideas That Work!, Even More Management Ideas that Work!, and Still More Management Ideas that Work!. I write the cover article each week for The Zweig Letter, and have contributed to Architecture, Progressive Architecture, Civil Engineering News, Architectural Record, the PSMA Ascent, SMPS News, and others, in addition to being quoted in The Wall Street Journal, Engineering News Record, Inc. Magazine, Building Design & Construction, National Business Employment Weekly, Success Magazine, Design Build Magazine, The Boston Globe, and many other publications.
