Mark's Story

I've been living in Asia for about 20 years. One year in China and now for eighteen years in Japan. I'm a professor at a Global Studies department. The most exciting part of my life is taking students twice a year to overseas volunteer trips, mostly with Habitat for Humanity. We most often go to the Philippines, but we've also been to Vietnam and Thailand. This August (2008) we'll be going to Mongolia for ...Expand for more
two weeks. These trips are part of the students' education. I'm supposed to be the leader, but in reality the students plan everything and I just tag along. I've probably become a pretty boring person. I'm a vegetarian, don't drink or smoke, and am spiritual/religious--Jewish. If anyone ever visits Japan I'll be happy to show you around and any of my old friends are welcome to join us on a volunteer trip!
