Mark's Story
Attended Jean Gordon from K through 6th grade and graduated in 1973, (Mrs. Elder's class if I remember correctly). Teachers I can remember having: Mrs Blumenthal (1st grade I think), Miss Bierhorst (3rd grade, lived in the apartments across the street from the school), Mrs Henry (4th grade, famous quote "What's AILING YOU?), Mrs Steen (5th grade?), Mrs Elder, 6th. Principal was Mrs Morales and you just DIDN'T want to wind up in her office.
After Jean Gordon, Cabrini for 7th grade then Brother Martin, class of 1979, then Tulane engineering class of 1983. Left N.O. in 1986 after the oil bust (and job bust) for southern California, and have been here ever since. Married 1998, triplets arrived in 2001.

ter, and brother all still living within 2 blocks of Jean Gordon (and, of course, the London Ave canal) at the time of Katrina. All houses complete losses (nearly 8 feet of water) but all family got out safe on Saturday night and Sunday morning before the storm (Texas and Baton Rouge). Some family stayed with us in California post-evacuation until the water went down. All eventually went back to pick up the pieces.
I went back to N.O. in Nov 2007 for the first time since the storm and saw the messy patchwork that is Vista Park today. Didn't visit the school, though I passed by. Saw some pics of Jean Gordon post-K on the internet and I'll try to post them here.
Would be interested in catching up with anyone who remembers me from Jean Gordon, Brother Martin, or Tulane.
