Mark's Story
Life
77' sure seems like a long time ago:
After graduation I enlisted in the USN and served aboard submarines until 1981. After becoming a civilian again I opened a towing and auto repair company in Riverside. I sold my interest in the business in 1983 and enrolled in the engineering program at Cal State University Fullerton. While there I reconnected with my high school sweetheart (Robin from Santa Ana High) and we were married in August of 1984. We stayed in Orange County until 1989 then relocated to Brawley (about 60 miles south of Palm Springs) where we currently live. We have three sons, ages 16, 14, and 10.
Prior to leaving Orange County I became interested in law enforcement. As a result I left CSUF and enrolled in the police academy at Golden West College. I graduated from the academy in 1987 and went to work for...Expand for more
Huntington Beach PD. In 1989, life's circumstances led us to Brawley and I went to work for the Brawley PD, which is where I still work and now serve as the Chief of Police.
Robin and I are very involved in our local church (Valley Baptist) and community. We also love doing just about anything outdoors with our boys. We've traveled a little, U.S. Virgin Islands, Cancun, around the U.S., etc... and love doing that too. We will have more opportunity after I retire in about 5 years. Early retirement is one benefit of being a police officer :-)
It was great to see many of you at our 20 year reunion. Some I missed and hope to see next time around. If you're ever in Brawley stop in the PD and say hi. If you would like to contact me send your messages to mgillmore at sbcglobal dot net.
Take care, stay safe, and God bless!
