Mark's Story

Life Hi, My name is still Mark Lamb, lol, I'm 44 years of age and I'm pretty much set in my ways (just kidding). I also like playing horseshoes, tennis, riding go carts, horses, bicyling, hiking, taking long naps, time permitting and being a couch potato on my days off. I actually enjoy working unlike a lot of people because I like to stay busy whether it's on the job or just doing something I enjoy. Currently, I live in Fort Smith, Ark., and I'd like to see how my other classmates are doing. I'm always interested in making new friends whenever I can. Military Well, where do I start, lets see, two years out of high school in August of 79, I joined up with the Air National Guard as a traditional guardsman. Boot camp was a real treat, let me tell ya! We made honor flight while there, early in the game and had base priveledges the whole time we were there. The confidence course was a blast, it was like a giant playground. Tech school was fun as well, in a little town just outside of Chicago called Rantul. I was there during the winter, (lots of snow) but I went there to learn a trade and graduated with high honors. after that I came back home to the real world so to speak and worked several jobs until 1983, then joined up full time. I figured it was time to make a stand and do something with my life. Now that I was employed full time in the guard, my life got jump started in new directions. I was an aircraft engine techinician, a great job by the way, working on F-16 Fighter Aircraft, it was a blast, I loved that job. For those of you that don't know, being in the Air national Guar...Expand for more
d, I was stationed right here in Fort Smith, which was great because I didn't have to go on long tdy's (temporary duty assignments) for long periods of time, though I woudn't have minded doing that. I won't go into detail, but I did get to do a lot of traveling to different parts of the U.S and overseas for two to six weeks at a time. I think my favorite trip was going to Israel for a month. If you plan a vacation overseas, let me suggest going there, it is simply beautiful there regardless of what you might see or hear on the news, it's a wonderful place to get away to. Although I do recommend that you go during peace time. Ok, you talked me into it. I got to tour the countryside. Going to Bethlehem and Jersalem probably was the icing on the cake for me because I got to see the tomb where Jesus was buried and resurrected. Also I went to the wailing wall, the garden of Gethsemane, the Mount of Olives, the Sea of Galilee, the Dead Sea, the Red Sea and the Medeteranian Sea, just to name a few. I really enjoyed myself while I was there. I went to Turkey and to England, which is also a beautiful country, not to mention, where my mother was born and raised, so guess what, that makes me a limey too, lol. I've been to numerous places throughout the U.S.. Joining the military was probably the best move I've ever made. While in the guard, I got married and had two beautiful girls, now ages 12 and 18 and I have enjoyed every moment of it. I retired from the guard in 03 and I am currently employed with DHL Express and living comfortably with that and my retirement and enjoying life with my family.
