Mark's Story

Kemmerer was just so much fun we could travel up country to clear our heads. I would be up there and never cross paths with another person all day, good for the sole. Born in Lyman Wyoming I enjoyed Cub Scouts, learning to swim, bike riding, horses, my white German Shepard dog very nice small community. Moved to Kemmerer in elementary school my dad worked in the coal mine. My mom would soon open a Beauty Shop to do hair we settled into the flats (Guntersville) as it was called next to the Hams Fork. I remember hearing the trains in the switch yard, learned to like the sounds as Kemmerer became home. Junior High was exciting as the town built a new school building and my class moved but we lost the hill at the old school, we would slide down using just our shoes like skis. I enjoyed the Hams Fork ice skating, learning to fish and making rafts. High school was time for sports, dirt bikes, hunting. Much of what it was like is in the yearbooks but not all. When I first moved to town the girls talked to me more than the boys. I noted that when new girls moved to town the boys talked to the them more, so it went with me as I joined in. We represent a good time in KHS history, the school was electrifying. Remember Kemmerer Hot...Expand for more
el, walking bridge over the rail road tracks, 9:00 P.M. curfew siren, the K was white washed rocks, Frontier, party at Silver Bridge, party at Rocks, trips to Bear Lakes North Shore. When I visit I stay in Bridger Valley all roads from their lead to good memories and old friends. Received an electrical apprenticeship out of Casper, top out of that program after 4 years. Worked in building and trades for about 8 years. I enjoyed moving around Wyoming duck hunting on the Platte river, fishing the Flaming Gorge, Wyoming Cowboy Football.. Currently working offshore for a major oil company 33 Years now (oil field worker). Over time I have called a truce with most of my demons, lost most of my hair and reduced my personal baggage to softcover carry on. The south is nice in the Winter but the Summers are hot as hell I compare it to Wyoming in reverse heat no snow. I am setup to visit at any time I have family in Kemmerer and miss everyone. I do not Facebook, tweet or blog just like to keep it as real as I can, with some BS mixed in for spice. I believe our time is as short as they warned us about hope all who read this are at peace and something I said made you smile. If not I guess you had to be there.
