Mark's Story
Hello fellow SJM alumni,
Briefly:
After graduating from SJM, I attended Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles and received my BA in Psychology. Loved that experience!
I currently work as a Special Education teacher for the Fresno County Superintendent of Schools (FCSS). I will retire from teaching at the end of the 2022 school year after a 25-year career with FCSS.
I also served as a member of the CA Air National Guard, 144th Fighter Wing, (USAF) for 29 years based in Fresno, and retired at the rank of Lt. Col on Dec 31, 2013. My teaching career worked well with being a member of the National Guard.
Am divorced (Fall 2011), with one son, Xavier (you see in the pic...Expand for more
ture), 3 stepchildren, and 3 grandchildren.
I call Fresno home. The Air National Guard, and summers off from teaching, provided me many opportunities to travel throughout the US and visit different parts of the world.
While a member of the CA ANG, I deployed to Afghanistan, Bagram Air Field, (Oct 2008 - May 2009). It was an eye-opening, once in a lifetime, experience! I am still in contact with service members from other countries and Afghan citizens I met while in-country.
Feel free to reach out and say hello, I always enjoy speaking with fellow alumni.
Now that I am in the 60+ age range, and retirement looming, on to more of life's senior challenges and experiences.
