MARLA's Story
Life
I attended Fullerton College & Cal Arts. I worked as a musical comedy actress and drama teacher. I married Russell Patterson OHS'63 and was introduced to him by VPHS pal Cyndee Kellar Paulus.
Our daughters are now in their 30s.. They have both graduated, one from Loyola Marymount U and the other USC. Our younger daughter has been teaching elementarty school for 11 years in a private school in OC.. Our other daughter works for GoldStar productions and as a voice over artist and actress. I think its fun to know that my husband was on the Villa Park City Council and was mayor in 2001! (Can you imagine!)
I have spent a lot of time volunteering for arts organizations and love to do interiors for friends and family. I taught a drama class and directed the spring musical for 7 years at the same private school my kids attended. We spend as much time traveling as we possibly can and whenever we get a chance. ved in Villa Park 1987 to 2004. We lived briefly in Newport Beach but came "back home" and lived another 9 years in VP. We have been downsized in Anaheim Hills for the last 5+ years. We love it here and I get to see some great VPHS pals regularly. I sang for several years in concert, on TV, onstage and toured much of the Far East and our own country with The Young Americans, I began with the group our jr year but really started working upon VPHS graduatioin. As an adult I worked as a musical theater actress and loved it....that led to directing and teaching. As of this writing Russ and I have been married 47 years. I'm in touch regularly with many VPHS classmates and stay in touch with my YA group too. Life has blessed me with friends and family and so much more. Sending out Best Wishes and Blessings to all.
