Marlene's Story
Life
I have lived a very interesting life since leaving high school. I became a drug addict, convicted felon and then was given a chance by a very special person to turn my life around. I got sober in 1996, I recieved a degree in Law enforcement and family services in 2002, I had my charges dismissed in 2001 (so I no longer have to admit to being a felon). In 1984 I married my 1st husband and in 1991 that divorce became final. In 1997 I met my second husband who I married in 2002. I have 3 children from the first marriage (23,18,17), 2 wonderful step daughters (15, 11) and a 15 year old nephew in my care. Today I have 3 children in my home, my 17 year old has moved out also. The 15 year old nephew will soon be going to live with my other brother. I also work fulltime as a chemical dependency counselor. I am currently working on completing my CDP...Expand for more
degree. After high school my plan was to move to California and have fun, well it was not so fun but it took years to figure that out and grow up. Today I am a grown up. But not sure who I am. I have always been someones mom, someones wife, someones aunt. I have focused all my energy on everybody else but on me. So today I am trying to figure out who I am...which is hard...if any body has ever had to do that for themselves they know what I am talking about. I have always been there to do for others and never done for myself, this is someting I am learning to do.
With 11 years sober I figure it is about time to find out who I really am. I know I am strong enough in my sobriety not to relapse and go back out to use.
My daughter is planning a wedding for next July 2008. She just graduated from high school.
Things are moving fast in my life
