Cathy's Story
Life
I have had an interesting life. Never dull. My two daughters are the center of my life. The 17 year old ~ Stefana ~ is a Junior in high school and looking at colleges this spring. She plans on studying communications and journalism. My little one ~ Elle ~ is ten and in fifth grade. She wants to be a clothing designer, hairdresser, and actress. Wow. That's going to be challenging!
I am and have been a stay at home Mom for the last 18 years. Before that I had my own swimsuit company called "Marlow Sport". For seven years I designed my own line of women's suits and sold them to stores. I called it quits when I wanted children. Too tough of an industry for raising kids.
No ~ I don't water ski much any more. The body is too old and broken. A year and a half ago I had cervical spine surgery to fuse disc. YIKES. That was fun. I am just starting to recover from that physically.
I still consider myself an athlete. Cycling has become my sport of choice and over the last few years I have put a lot of miles on my Serotta titanium including my longest one day ride of 120 miles in the mounta...Expand for more
ins of Colorado. My longest multi-day ride was 432 in six days, also in the Colorado Rockies. I love being on the bike.
The BAD news. My parents were in a plane crash on July 4, 2003. My dad died from his injuries. My mother survived despite her 46 broken bones. It changed all of our lives. Forever. Mom is doing well and living in Nevada City close to my brother. I miss Dad every day but we're getting by.
On a happier note. I am a political activist of sorts. Currently I am on the Board of Directors of the California Women's Leadership Association. My daughter Stefana and I attended the Republican National Convention in NYC in 2004. She as a junior delegate and I was the coordinator of the hospitality room for the California delegates. My kids have both met Arnold a number of times.
My other part time volunteer work is fundraising for a variety of charities. The most recent event was the first golf tournament for our local elementary school to raise funds for technology improvements. We raised over $11,000. Now I am on to fundraising for the high school. A mother's work is never done!
