Marsha Wray's Story

UPDATE: May 2009: Okay, to correct my initial story, don was with PM 37 years The cabarrus Plant is closing early in July 2009 instead of June 2010. Tough on our little economy here. We have had a great amount of rain in the past month. Gotta be at full Lake level or mighty close to it. We have been busy being retired and not on a set schedule. Bought this laptop, and are still learning. Thank God for Betsy who can tutor her ole Mama and Daddy. Trying to figure out how to get Betsy's American Indian Dog Rescue, from jumping our 4 and a half foot fence. So Don replaced 50 feet of the fence with a six footer. Did it mattter. NOPE...she is LUCY. Now when she jumps Don gets in the car and finds her. She sees him and starts running after the car. When he thinks she is tired enough, he opens the door, and says "Get in". and she hops right in. I married a very smart manboy. MARRIED TO DONALD "DINKY' LOWRY Don joined the Coast Guard stationed at Outer Banks worked for Philip Morris in Richmond and then moved to Cabarrus County, Concord, NC to open the new plant there. Married Marsha, had a daughter, now 22, working full time and going to college full time. Mom and Dad have passed on and the old house on 46th belongs to someone else. Retired after 30 some years with PM- trying to move ...toward the ocean..Atlantic of course. We live about 3 miles from Lowe's Motor Speedway in Harrisburg. Life I left Greensboro and graduated from ECU, then taught third grade in Henderson, NC. I...Expand for more
taught at Pinkston Street Elem. for 3 years, and Highland Elem in Charlotte for one year. I was offered a teaching fellowship at ECU and accepted. After getting my Masters in education with a speciality in Supervision/ Curriculum development with a concentration in reading. Whew! I taught part time at GTI, tended bar at a little bar in downtown Greensboro called "The Bushes". Moved to Atlanta to become the academic dean of a small business college. Hated it and moved back to NC as soon as I could. I moved to Cabarrus County where my brother Buzzy was teaching middle school- vocational education. I began teaching for the community college system at Rowan-Cabarrus and Stanley Tech.. During these years I met my husband on a blind date. We have a daughter who is now 18 and will be entering Greensboro College Fall of 2004. Also during these years, Mom got sick with lung cancer and died 7 months later. Dad stayed in Greensboro until we had to move him closer to us because of his dementia. Buzzy lives 17 miles from me. I live in Harrisburg and he is in Mt. Pleasant. Dad lives about 4 houses down from him, and has the bulk of responsibility for Daddy. Though Dad does go to an adult life center which serves breakfast lunch and activities from about 8am to 4pm. He enjoys dancing with all the ladies, but backs way off if one of them starts talking about getting married. They are all so precious and funny. I've had an adventursome and blessed life, maily because I came from good beginnings.
