Marsha's Story
Life
I went to college after I graduated high school after a year at Western I decided I wanted to get married. I married Eugene Hester, boy that was the biggest mistake of my life. While I was married I went back to Western for another year. In 1976 I had my only child Shane he is now 33 years old(gosh that statement really made me feel old). NO GRANDCHILDREN THOUGH AND THAT IS A GOOD THING. Got rid of husband #1 in 1978. Worked for the State as a food stamp case worker for about 11 years. In 1984 I married James Mercer from Bowling Green. In 1989 I quit the state(burnout) and stayed home for quite a while then you guessed got burnout from doing housework and returned to the working life and went into retail management. I managed the Old America store in Bowling Green for about 4 years. Then went to work managing Michaels Arts and crafts stor(the perfect store for and old hippie such as myself, worked for them for 12 years managing stores in Lexington and Louisville then back to Rivergate in Nashville drove back and forth for 5 very long years. I have to admit I was asleep for most of my...Expand for more
drive time-ha-ha its a wonder I didnt kill myself and others to. Finally I retired in Feb. of this year. We love taking carribean cruises. We take one each year got one booked for this coming January. If you have never taken one try it you will love it. I do still work one day a week at Michaels keeping them audit ready and so I won't loose my mind. I have 4 dogs and 7 cats which are my children. We live in Bowling Green on 80 acres of wooded land if you like wildlife(the four-legged kind)you would be in heaven her. We have deer and turkeys come in our yard all the time and of course we don't allow hunting so they don't fear humans all that much. I think wildlife look much better standing on all fours than they do hanging on someones wall. Our nearest neighbor is about a mile away, it is truely wonderful. We also have a cabin on the Barren River Lake which is very secluded also and enjoy the wildlife there both two-legged and four-legged also, thats where we let our hair down at least whats left of our hair my husbands is getting pretty thin in places ha-ha! Well that's about it.
