Marshal's Story
Jeezus, we're getting old! After goofing off at SHS, graduated from (and goofed off at) UCONN in 69. Somehow managed to get into grad school (Medical College of Georgia, Augusta), managed to get a PhD in 1974. While there, became a certified SCUBA instructor and met my 2nd wife (1st wife, a "high school girlfriend," didn't work out. No kids there, thankfully). Got married for the 2nd time around in 74 too. Moved to Miami, FL, for a post-doc. We lived about an hour from the Florida Keys, so we and our kids (two dogs) spent many a weekend diving. The department was a TON of fun. Lots of wild parties, and the dept. chair kept his stash of pot in the drop-ceiling in his office.
Got a "real job" at the U of Michigan Medical School, here in Ann Arbor, where I've been on the faculty since 1977. Damn, Ann Arbor is a boring, dull place, and it's an armpit of liberalism, which I absolutely despise.
Still managed to be a "free spirit" here, and for about 25 years, up until about 3 years ago, a motorcycle (Honda and Suzuki crotch rockets, a Harley, and last a nice Kawasaki Concours) was my main transportation back and forth to work. Trust me, I was one of very few faculty in this place who rode cycles regularly. Had a Jeep Wrangler for winter time. (The eggheads on the faculty around here are SAAB, Volvo, Prius, and Smart (STUPID!) car drivers. Plus, I suspect that very few of them have a CCW; I do, and carry all the time. A true 2nd Amendment supporting NRA member!)

eer fire department around the time most guys decided they've been married long enough that it was time for an affair. Fighting fires, thumping on the chests of people who were on their "way out," plugging up bullet holes (lived near a BAD neighborhood), driving fire trucks and ambulances, was a total blast.... probably the most fun I've ever had in my life. But, we moved to another part of town, so my firefighting days lasted only about 6 years.
Guess I still haven't grown up. Got rid of the bikes, went to a Mustang GT and finally got the Camaro rag-top you see on my page. Bought that for me for my 65th birthday, and have been modifying it for more speed and acceleration ever since. Then, FINALLY, I got me a new 2013 Corvette Grand Sport convertible. Yay!
My wife and I have 3 kids and 3 grandkids. My wife retired from a 30+ year career as an ICU nurse and, later, a high-honcho nursing administrative position, in March 2013, and I started a 1 year retirement furlough from my faculty position at the University of Michigan medical school on January 1, 2016.
We got tired of cold Michigan weather, so in January 2016, after 39 years in Ann Arbor, we packed up and moved to Huntersville, NC. 15 minutes from two of our granddaughters, our oldest daughter, and her husband. Youngest daughter and her family still in Minneapolis, and our great son still living in Ann Arbor. We'll see how it all goes, and for how long: ain't getting any younger, ya know!
Hope y'all are healthy and happy!
