I spent 21 years in the Navy and Army and retired from the Army in 2005. After the Army I was in law enforcement with the Texas Dept. of criminal Justice until a very nice little 88 year old man pulled out in front of my Harley with his 100% good old fashioned steel 1964 Chevy Impala. Beautiful car. I remember how nice the hood looked as i went flying over it. Anyway, the Harley had $946.39 worth of damage and I had 140K. Hit the pavement at about 50 mph. At that speed you can really fly a long way. The next thing i remember someone was waking me up asking if i was alright. I tried to get up except one of my knees wasnt working and i was having a wee bit of trouble breathing. Long story short, broke 3 ribs, collapsed a lung and my knee was shattered into 15 pieces. Spent 3 days in ICU, the next 30 in the hospital and the next year in a wheelchair. Had 3 more surgeries on my knee, adding a plate and a bunch of screws ultimately.
