Marshall's Story
I've been playing Santa for the past 50 years for my kids, grandkids, great grandkids, nieces, nephews & a whole passel of others. Maybe this year, I won't have to wear a fake beard!!
The first time I played Santa, I was walking past Paulis', a grocery store on the NW side. A little girl, maybe 6 years old, walked out of the store with her mother. Little girl asked me if I was the real Santa. Not wanting to scar her, I said yes, ...Expand for more
I am. At which point, she broke free of her mother's hand, fan up & kicked me in the shin. "That's for not bringing me a pony last Christmas!" Her mom started apologizing, as I hopped around doing my best not to swear, (and those of you who know me realize just how hard it is for me not to), while I whispered to her mom, " it's okay, but please buy her a toy pony!" True Story, I know it sounds made up, but my shin begs to differ.
