Marshall's Story
Wolfgang Charanza and Marshall Kean are the jazz duo Charanza & Kean.
Charanza & Kean are classically trained professional musicians who have been performing around the Oberpfalz and Bavaria region for a variety of occasions, for over twenty years.
The venue is smooth jazz, covering dinner music, background music, as well as full jazz concerts for private parties and special events.
Charanza & Kean perform a full 2 to 4 hour concert and/or fill-ins.
Charanza & Kean offer a genre of music to enhance any event wishing to add that extra touch of class. It would be our pleasure to have an opportunity to perform for, and of the soul with all those who appreciate music.
Marshall graduated from Lawton High School in 1976 and continued on at the University level to finished in May of 83´ with a Bachelors degree from Olivet College, Olivet, Michigan with a major/minor in art and music with course work at ASU and Phoenix University toward a masters certificate. He also studied english and sports and was a member of the Olivet College track team and the Arizona State University archery team. He taught art in the Alhambra Traditional School System in Phoenix, Arizona, and the Department of Defense Dependent schools in Germany.

the Schule in Weiden and Max Reger Gymnasium in Amberg, Marshall taught instrumental music (saxophone, clarinet and flute) semi-retiring in 2017.
His teaching as a lecturer included freehand drawing, architectural history and different fonts at the Industrie und Handelskammer (Chamber of Commerce) in Weiden to adult students going into Architectural Drafting.
Marshall married Elfriede Johanna Hedwig Theresia Tretter in October 1990 and has lived since 1989 in Germany.
Marshall played with different music groups including baritone saxophone with the “Sax for 5” Saxophone quintet, alto sax with the GS Big Band in Luhe, Gemany, and different saxophones,
clarinet and flute with two Duets.
His sport success in Archery was limited to the national level, including winning of the German National Championships in the age class 46 yrs. in 2003, 3rd place in 2004, and shooting the highest league in Germany with his team from Sulzbach-Rosenberg, and Diana Hirschau.
He participation on the winning National Championship Team for universities in Atlantic City for Arizona State University in 1982.
His best showing at the United States Olympic trials was 16th place, having shot 3 Olympic Trials and 3 World Championship Trials..
