Martha's Story
It was suggested that I would never amount to a lot, and that may be true. But I have reached goals that coordinte with my goals for after school. I believed I should just be a wife and mother. 50 years and 3 kids/10 grandkids and 4 great-grandkids later, I am still the same MRS that I became in 1970, to the same man I knew for 2 weeks before he went off to war for 1.5 years. Always wanted to be a PE teacher. Instead coached my two sons for 8 years in football and baseball, along with a few other teams while at various Army Duty stations. Was instrumental in the development of an Army-wide program that takes carry of soldiers and their families. ept at Ireland Army Hospital at Ft. KNox KY. We opened an experimental TRIAGE CLINIC to alleviate overcrowding and long waits for appointments. Now no one is seen without being triaged and services are more readily available than before. I didn't invent it, but am proud of my contributions that has helped so many others. I also had the opportunity to be exposed to many different fields of Health care that I would have been able to afford as a civilian. Now I am an old retired Army Momma, quilting and taking care of my three soldiers that gave their all so others could be safe. My life isn't what I ever thought it would be, but it sure has been on hellava ride getting to where I am today. I guess I took our "Be All That You Can Be" motto to heart!!!!
