Martin's Story
Life
Not long after my final escape from Chuck
(I worked there in '78-'79),
I bought 4.6 acres of undeveloped ridgeside land
way out on a gravel road
in rural Metcalfe County Kentucky.
No buildings,
no public utilities of any sort,
nearest neighbor a quarter-mile away.
Just a ditch with some sticks and mud.
But I immediately fell in love with the good people,
the Whipoorwills and the beautiful sunsets.
By 1983 I had enough of life in the big city
and had saved up a little cash.
I packed a chainsaw and hammer into my old Ford
and made the transition to my Kentucky property,
to live in a canvas tent on the hillside
while I began construction of a cabin.
By the end of that year
it was finished enough to move into.
To make a very long story short,
I am still here.
Been a few changes over the years, though...
The road is paved,
city water lines installed,
electric and phone service (DSL even!),
A while back I bought the adjacent land and house at a foreclosure auction.

cres,
I have the Cabin which I built,
a huge A Frame house and several useful outbuildings.
Plenty of room for the Horse, 5 or 6 cats, the chickens and most of a dog.
Besides my Small Business, which has filled in the gaps over the years,
I have been a DJ/Engineer at several local radio stations,
Plant Manager at a small manufacturing facility,
manager at a fast food restaurant,
Sold used cars,
Sold Advertising Screens.
Worked for the Census Bureau (Twice).
Built a few custom Guitar Amplifiers
and various pieces of Professional Audio Gear,
Recorded hundreds of songs by local musicians,
Built barns and repaired about a thousand broken VCRs.
Right now,
I am cohabitating with a sweet old Soul Mate Hippie kind of girl,
and working at my Dream Job - as Technical Director at the local Community Theater,
and still operating my business part-time.
We get to vacation on the Gulf Coast in Florida now and then
and return to Cleveland a couple times a year to see the family and a few old friends.
