Martin's Story

Life I started working as an archaeologist in 1969. I was an archaeologist for the U.S. Forest Service in Arizona from 1974 through 1985. I married my wife Kathy in 1985. She is a forester and works for the U.S. Forest Service. I resigned from the Forest Service in 1985 to be able to follow Kathy's career around the country. That year I formed a private archaeological contracting firm called Archaeological Resource Investigations (ARI). t and archaeological damage assessment. ARI's biggest project to date was the archaeological damage assessment for the Exxon-Valdez Oil Spill. I currently live in Missoula, Montana where my wife is the Deputy Regional Forester for Resources for Region 1 of the Forest Service. Our "children" are two Labrador retrievers and an Airedale terrier. My hobby is bicycling, both road and mountain bikes, and I ride between 4,000 and 5,000 miles a year. Kathy and I like to travel. We plan to retire here in Missoula in approximately four years.
