Martin's Story
My story in part....
You know life was hard back then (1952), dad died when I was nine and I didn't have anyone to push me so I did it my way.Turned out was the wrong way, Ha. Got in a heck of a mess when I was 17 with Alvia Martin and shortly after that another fine mess with Calvin Sellers. The local Police told me to get out of town sooo I went down and joined up with the US Navy. Best thing that ever happen to me. After suriving boot camp I caught the aircraft carrier USS Ticonderoga CVA 14 out of San Diego, California and made two cruses to the far east(Japan,China,Philippines and Hawaii) and learned alot about growing up.After the Navy I worked several different jobs and finally ended up in a paper mill at Sheldon, Tex. After four years there My sweet wife Kay and my two sons, Ted & Paul moved to Valliant, Oklahoma to another Paper mill owned by Weyerhaeuser Company where I worked for 33 years. retirement we bought a place on Toledo Bend Lake in east Texas where I bass fished for six years none stop. My wife, Kay and I both ended up with health problems so we sold out and brought ourselvs back to Oklahoma close to our three sons(Ted, Paul & Chad)and here we are. I'm still bass fishing and my wife is still sweet, funny thing about Kay is I knew her just about all her life. She was from North Shore on the other side of the tunnel but friends of the family. When I got home from the Navy I bumbed around a little while before settling down. I asked my sister if Kay Renfro was still around and she told me she was. I called her that day, asked for a date and we were married two weeks later. Now that's funny I don't care who you are.
If your ever up this way stop by here in Idabel and visit a spell. We might go fishing or ride up to Beavers Bend state park up at Broken bow Lake. I promise you'll like it.
