Marva's Story
It's hard to believe it's been almost 40 years since we graduated!
Obtained a BSN from IWU and a MSN from U of I; got married in 1978 to a brand new dental school graduate (Northwestern) who was from the PNW (Pacific Northwest). I left the Midwest in 1979 for the PNW and initially lived on a island where I had to commute on a ferry to work. Moved to Vancouver in 1981 and have lived here ever since.
Have worked as a staff nurse, ICU nurse, nursing supervisor, head nurse and nursing instructor. Now I am employed as a legal nurse consultant in a nurse owned firm in Portland, OR.

Started world traveling that year and have visited France, Italy, Germany, England, and Mexico. Became "mother" to two cats in 2004 - they are great company. Still looking for the man of my dreams...
In my spare time, I do a fair amount of volunteer work. I have been volunteering at a local free clinic since its inception almost 19 years ago. Also, I am active in the Washington State Nurses Association where I chair the continuing education committee. Last year I joined a walking group and try to get out and walk 4-5 times a week. Reading, some quilting and sewing, cross stitch and other activities take up the rest of my time.
