Marvin's Story
Life
I left Connecticut 30 years ago. Here is a condensed version of my life.
After High School I went to UConn ( go Huskies! )School of Engineering. When I graduated I moved to Alberta Canada since there were lots of engineering jobs, and I had some relatives there.
I learned to Ski in the Rockies. Very cold there. I met my wife on a ski trip. Moved from cold Alberta to much milder Vancouver B.C. Had several jobs in engineering and construction companies.
Moved around a bit spending a few years in Manitoba, but thankfully got back to the west coast. Had a little girl. Then two years later had another. They are no longer little, one just started University of BC.
I now work in an "interesting" company that makes waterslides and amusement park rides. I have become something of a guru in the field. I have been on two TV shows one was on "Discovery Channel." They put me on because I can "wing it" like nobody's business. You know how it feels really weird to hear your recorded voice, much worse on TV.
I took up riding a bike for exercise a few years ago. I spend a few hours each week doing it. Rode 73 km today in fact. ( we use km in Canada you know ) I prefer severe exercise to drugs and dieting to control my weight. Never been fat, but like my chocolate. This summer I rode my bike up a 3000 ft high mountain road. That was hard.
I take lots of digital photos with my Nikon. Both my daughters are...Expand for more
photographers too, and better than me.
My wife is a figure skating coach, and has some prospects that may get to the olympics some day.

Update: It is now 2014.
My one gorgeous daughter has graduated UBC with an Art history degree. The other equally gorgeous one is now a flight instructor working up her hours to qualify for being an airline pilot. I am immensely proud of both.
I have ridden my bike in 3 Granfondos from Vancouver to Whistler BC. I still weigh 200 lbs and would like to be 15 lbs less. Weight makes riding up mountains a literal pain in the butt. I do it anyway since it is far better than LIPITOR. I did volunteer work to train people to ride bikes in granfondos and one of the crazy people in my group has signed up to ride the " Etape de tour" in July in France. What have I done! (google it)
I blog my biking stuff at Stevestonbike.tumblr check it out if you want to be bored or if you like bikes, jealous.
I changed jobs twice and now work designing hazardous waste and chemical containment vessels. Not totally happy with it but better than unemployment.
I have been writing stuff. I think I am pretty good at it. I wrote a thing for cyclists called "Mom Dad's wearing Spandex Again".
I let my Classmates membership lapse since even when paid for it was plastered with dating ads. Though occasionally I visit my profile as I get those nag emails from the robot.
Cheers!
