Mary's Story
After graduating high school, I worked as a Medical Secretary for 2 years. I got tired of listening to doctors curse and burp in my ear (from dictation), so I decided to go to college. August 5, 1972, Greg Kelly and I got married. He finished at University of West Florida with a degree in Accounting in 1975. Our one and only child was born on August 16, 1975. I completed my BA in Social Work from the University of West Florida in 1978. I graduated from Florida State University in 1994 with a Master's in Social Work. I've worked full time with the Okaloosa School District since 1979. In fact, I was the first degreed Social Worker that they hired. prox. 25 years. He died from Lung Cancer in 2001. We have 2 grandsons that I am raising. It is a busy life! They are 10 and 8 years old. We eat and breathe baseball. The oldest child looks and acts so much like Greg. The younger one is a lot like me. He's more laid back and tries not to let things bug him too much. Both like/play guitar and drums. In my spare time, I've worked for Bridgeway as a therapist, Covenant Hospice as "on-call" Social Worker and Agency for Persons with Disabilities, doing intakes and assessments. Church is an important part of our lives and we have completed 2 mission trips together. More are to come. I'm excited that the boys share a passion to help and teach others. We live in Crestview now, close to my mom, brothers and sister.
