Mary Ann's Story

I am going to go by the Story Wizard next to this text. I hope my friends remember me as being compassionate and caring. Funny is good, too! Blowing off steam ... I tend to brood, then usually I lose my temper and it is over. Depends on the severity of the situation. My favorite way to relax is being with my family. They always amaze and leave me with a feeling of whimsy when they are around. I lived in Paso Robles, CA for 42 years, then moved to E. Tennessee when my husband retired. I have learned from my kids to get some patience. I have also learned a lot from the outcome of their lives. Their feedback is very interesting, and listening to how they remember things vs how I remember things is truly amazing at times. They are awesome adult people and I have love, respect and admiration for them. I think happiness is anywhere and everywhere you choose it to be. You can be in the most beautiful place in the universe, and with the person you want to be with and be miserable, if you choose to be. It is a state of mind, not where or who you are with. If you are unhappy with yourself, that should be your first priority ... to be happy with who and what you are. The rest is easy. My best friend would tell you I'm caring but logical, but people who don't know me very well would describe me as somewhat cynical. The weirdest job I ever had was as a secretary at a funeral home. I should have became a funeral director ... the clients seldom complain. Job satisfaction! I have two dogs and two cats, which I find cumbersome and demanding at times. My biggest trophy are the pictures on my walls of my family. They are the hopes and dreams of the future and of which...Expand for more
I am most proud. If I had a do-over, I would have finished college and become a nurse. I was short sighted when I was younger, but see the importance of a good, solid education and it is easier to achieve when you are younger. My oldest friend I believe is Cheryl Schmidt. We lost touch for years, but for some reason I looked her up on the Internet about 8 years ago and we reconnected. We met at school, I am sure. Either that or we were in detention together ... lol. When we reconnected, we went to visit her. It was as if we had started a conversation where we had left off years before. The comfort zone we felt was the same as before, only we are a bit older and a whole lot wiser than we were at 20! She is a great friend, loyal and true and someone you can count on to "tell it like it is", whether it is what you want to hear or not. Awesome individual and someone I am proud to call my good friend. My first job was at Sears, where I got paid 2.00 an hour to answer and place phone orders. It was an after school job, and I don't remember much about it but my folks bought a lot of stuff from Sears when I worked there. They were and are awesome! I remember a guy came around the neighborhood with a paint horse. He came up to the door and asked my dad if he wanted my picture taken on the horse. My dad smiled and asked me if I wanted to and I said yes. The guy gave me a cowboy hat, chaps, a vest and I did look like a cowgirl. The picture was when I was about 5, no front teeth and few lower ones, but my folks proudly displayed that picture for years in our home. They were wonderful people, the greatest parents and super role models for how to live a good life.
