Mary-Anne's Story
Well as you know I never finished high school. Come to find out you can get through undergraduate and graduate school without going to high school. I have 3 degrees, a BA in Psychology, BS in Nursing my specialty is Psychiatry and my Master's in Social Work again my specialty is Human Behavior. I had a very exciting life so much so that those who know me now and my past have convinced me to write a book so I am. I ended up as Supervisor of the first for profit Psychiatric hospital in Nashville TN. HCA. I loved it. Then I got promoted and started the very first Crisis Assessment program for HCA hospitals in the Country. I created, developed and ran the whole thing. As far as I know, it is still being used by HCA hospitals. I loved doing that but wanted to get my Master's so I resigned as director and just did assessments and was PRN Supervisor and as I went through school. After graduating from UT with my Master's I became ill. Through my illness and taking many medications I became Deaf so I had to change my dreams, goals, and what I could do within my limitations. d a new therapy which I believe is the first new Therapy of the 21st century that can be self-taught and addresses all the challenges created by the Technological age. I am writing a book about my life and this led to the creation of my Therapy so it is integrated into my book. I counsel kids from all over the world. I have learned many cultures, religions, ways of life, especially for women. I have become a spokesperson for the Deaf. I have always been a rebel as you know :). I don't ever want to retire. I am still kicking ass.
Now living in North Carolina love it here. Reminds me of Athens in the old days. It is beautiful and we live in a small town known as Kernersville. It is really a great place. So is Winston Salem. The people are so kind and friendly. A far cry from the Midwest. We are loving it here. First Christmas here 2023.
I am now a Great Aunt to two absolutely funny and happy baby girls. Kenzi is two years old now and Karli is about 6 months. Wish I lived closer to be able to watch them grow up some. But not going back to the Midwest. My brother Scott sends me pictures and videos of them every day. He is a very proud and involved grandpa.
God bless everyone,
As always Mary-Anne :)
