Mary's Story
Ok, as you have probably noticed... I moved a lot. Even though my father was retired Army, he still enjoyed moving each and every year. But it wasn't just a move from one town to the next, oh no, we moved from Upstate New York to Washington. Then back to NY, thereafter California and so on.
In 1977 we ended up in Frankfurt/M., Germany since my mother was German. But I still had another 1/2 year to get that diploma. So I went to Frankfurt American High School for 6 months to finish school.
My Dad moved back to Hemet, CA and I deceided to stay in that big German City, since it was actually quite exciting! I worked for the Davis Agency in Frankfurt (used to be a flight charter service for military dependents) for about a year. Then I landed a job at Bache Halsey Stuart and Shields (later Prudential Bache), also in Frankfurt where I worked for 3 years. In the meantime I had met my German husband, got married and stayed in Frankfurt for altogether 29 years!!!! During that time I also worked for...Expand for more
Bankers Trust in Frankfurt and Symbol Technologies in Dietzenbach. Oh, and we also had our own business for about 7 years until I got tired of it and sold my half to my sister-in-law.
In 2006 I could finally talk my hubby into moving to "my country" with me and we ended up in the Tri-State area of Arizona. I thought he would get homesick, but he really likes it here!
Now that we're settled into our new home, I thought it would be great to get in touch with some of my friends back from my high school days. I had a really bad conscience that we lost contact, but back in the 70's & 80's those continents were actually a world apart. Also, I have to admit I was also quite a workaholic and somehow never managed to write letters in the few hours I wasn't working and partying (for those of you who were also in FAHS, does "Sachsenhausen" ring a bell???).
Anyway, hope my high school friends can forgive me for not staying in touch and I am sincerely hoping that we can reconnect after 30 some years.
