Molly's Story
Life
I live in North Carolina close to my parents and the beach. My son has recently decided to take a break from college and live and work here as well. I am trying not to offer my advice. As soon as possible, I hope to move, either to a small town in Maine or a large city like Charlotte, NC or San Francisco. I've recently been in touch with many old friends from ACS and hope to hear from more.
My Job
I am a social worker in Children's Protective Services, so no two days are alike. I travel a lot and my job has a lot of stress but I can't imagine doing anything else.
School
After leaving ACS in 1967 I attended high school for a short while at the brand new Hoggard High in Wilmington, NC and then we moved to Winst...Expand for more
on-Salem where I attended R.J. Reynolds High School.
It was a huge culture shock for me to leave overseas life and enter into the first few years of school desegregation and the bitterness on both sides!
College
I transferred to UNCW from a junior college with my close friend. We shared a run-down furnished apartment at the beach when very few people were living there in the winter. It was one of my favorite times of life. I started out in the education major and changed to sociology/social work. Because I worked and paid for college myself, it took me a long time to complete, but it was a proud accomplishment at the time. I earned my Master's degree at Holy Names College in Oakland in Education and Human Development.
