Mary's Story
Life
My Spouse: My husband is Nick Zar from San Pedro and we have been married since 1991. We moved from San Pedro in 2001 and have lived happily in Menifee, CA for 12 years. Nick works for the State of CA at State Compensation Insurance Fund.
Our Pets: We are allowed to live in Benny's house. Benny is a Snow Leopard and he is a beautiful cat but this type of cats tend to have a feisty personality and he thinks his people were put here to be his chew toys. In 2012 we became the proud parents of a beautiful, pure white, long hair kitten which we named Sadie Mae. The vet said she was about 5 months old when we got her after someone threw out the window of a truck. Luckily she wasn't hurt and she became a member of our family. Benjamin is a large cat, sleek but very strong. Sadie is much smaller cat (and she was just a kitten) but the first thing she did when we got her was to run across the room and land on Benny's back!!. They have been fighting ever since. Most of the time though, they are sleeping together or grooming each other.
Our children: Scott, Bill, Michael, Deanna and Jacque, are all adults (I refuse to tell you how old they are) and...Expand for more
we have a great relationship with all of them. I believe that the greatest gift of parenthood is to be friends with your adult children. They are truly good people and they light up my world!! We also have 3 Grandchildren, Daniel 17 & Christian 13 are Jacque's boys. They both play ice hockey and are very good! Daniel plays both offense and defense and Christian is a goal tender. They are both awesome players and have turned me into a real hockey fan!! They are growing into wonderful young men! Rudy 10 is Deanna's son. He is an awesome baseball player and plays first base, outfield and is a pitcher. He is a really great kid and the heart of my heart!!! I feel very blessed to have this awesome family!
Career: I have been a substance abuse counselor for almost 20 years. I retired from Riverside County in 2010 and I am thoroughly enjoying my free time. I hope to be opening a private practice and will do private addiction counseling and addiction consulting. It is wonderful to have an opportunity to have a positive impact on peoples lives. When I am counseling with my clients I believe that I am doing exactly what God wants me to do with my life!
