mary's Story

Moved from Arvada to Grand Junction, then Arizona and South central Ohio. Back to Grand Junction I am so glad to be back in Colorado. Leaving Colorado again, retiring in Mesa Arizona. Look forward to meet new people, playing tennis, getting back into my photography, carrying on with genealogy and a hundred other things. No more freezing weather. Hot in the summer for sure! Just don't go out until night time. Bought a place but I will still live here for awhile. Need all the fun I can have in this season of life! 10 years is only 3,650 days! FIND ME IN THE 1970 YEARBOOK... AWHS Golden HS 1971 Oberon Jr.H. Welcome to my life as it currently is. I have 4 sons and 1 daughter. 4 daughter-in-laws; Dana, Heather, Jenni and Tara. So far I have 14 grandchildren, but were not done, I hope. My super wonderful son's names are, Hoss, Clint, Stephen and Tyler. 1 special daughter Tracy. Update: I am a Great Grandmother of 2!!!! One boy and 1 girl. Uh I guess I sure have helped grow the American population. 😁 lol Retired now, but in my working life I was in Non-Profit Association Management and governmental accounting. Which is interesting because my worse subjects in school was typing, math and English. I have a quick temper which I have slowly conquered. Of course occasionally, I might screw up. My husband and I moved from Colorado to Ohio 4 years ago - and I love it! It is always green here and well, when it isn't, you will find us in Arizona! However as I get older I find I have a desire to return to Colorado. Just to make sure our life is complicated, we have two dogs; Jordyn and Abbey. They are where laughter comes from. It is a privilege to love my dogs and cats. Our Jordyn, one hundred and sixty pounds of dog, is a National Registered Therapy Dog, (Anatolian Shepard). Abigail a Jack Russell, need I say more about a Jack Russell? Also 2 kittens adopted us, wouldn't give them up for anything now. We live on 3 acres, and have a big pond. Update: Our big beautiful Jordyn was hit by a car in front of our house. She died instantly. We had her cremated and chose to keep her with us. Then a 8 month hound mix came our way. We tried to find the owners, but no-one claimed him. He is very well behaved and everyone is happy together. Lordy Lordy, no more please! I live with white, gray, red, tan and brown haired dogs and cats. If anyone needs hairball treatment, it's me! No. it requires a lot of sweeping, dusting and vacuuming every day! Gee, I wish I would do that! My oldest son, Hoss is a professional hunter and guide in Colorado, Texas and few other places including Canada and has traveled on African Safari twice. He also graduated from Arvada West HS. He has 1 son and daughter. Middle son lives in Fruita. he has 3 daughters and he helps us too. Next son second to last but not least has a good time enjoying all outdoor activities in Colorado he can. He has 2 sons and 1 daughter. My daughter works at H&R Block. She took very good care of her youngest daughter, Awnee who now is a Cancer survivor. Tracy has 2 daughters and 1 son (a Marine). My youngest son, Tyler and his wife, Tara, are in the United States Air Force. In October 2013 they were transferred to the Pentagon in DC.. So you just never know! He earned two bachelor's degrees; one Anti-terrorism, second, Counter-Intelligence...Expand for more
. Cant imagine where he got the bug to learn, and does so well. He also has his Masters degree in Political science. Took all that and a lot of other things and in 2019 became a Special Agent in the FBI. His wife Tara is a Medic. When she started, they gave her a map to find out how to get somewhere. The Pentagon is huge. They have 3 boys. She is a photographer after 12 years service. * I did take a tour with them. It is big, the park in the middle is very nice and the memorial of the people of 9/11 is done well. Inside you would never know a plane went through They replaced damage with original finishes. They put a very small memorial there and a small Chapel, I must have seen a hundred Generals, no salutes are made in the Pentagon. All in all it is not fancy, but would have been when it was new. Forgot to mention walking to the inside memorial, there are big quilts done from pictures young children had drawn about what happened on 9/11, It was very moving and precious. I took up photography a few years ago and it turns out I'm not too bad. I teach a group of ladies once in awhile how to use and take good pictures. Although I think I might be teaching computer skills. It also explains why I don't have very many pictures of myself. Duh! The picture of me in photo was taken 5 years ago in Rome. I have traveled to Italy, Greece, Turkey, Germany, Belgium, France and Spain. Also 4 cruise trips. We traveled the "military tour" through Germany, France, and Belgium. Emotionally visited and the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium. The American Memorial in Normandie was, well it was overwhelming for me. We were nearly alone, the skies were cloudy, and a few drops of rain, as if they were tears. So many men buried so far from home. However, they are honored, respected and remembered for their sacrifice. Thank God for what they accomplished. My husband's father was one who landed on the beach that horrible day. He also was in the Battle of the Bulge. He came home to Ohio with PTSD. Back then there wasn't recognition or treatment for the problems . He was a man who gladly answered the call of duty. He only lived for ten years or so after. I had some fairly serious accidents to the ole body. I sleep walk! The latest was a broken humorous bone, broke it right in half. Now a plate and 9 screws later, (June '13) I have finally healed. Have no clue how I fell or how bad it was. I remember swimming around on the kitchen floor, laughing and saying, "help, help, I've fallen down and I cant get up". I had no memory until surgery what the heck was going on. Now I don't sleep, since June 2013, I haven't slept a wink! I will put a few pictures up when I can. I have to dig in the computer for them. I have about 25,000 pictures to find in several different hard drives. Hey I clean them up and out ever so often. I guess not often enough, definitely not organized either. Organized? Never! I wish I was but it will never happen. I have had a good life, many trials but I over came them. The love I have experienced and pleasures I have known have also been plenty. Isn't that what life is all about? In the end we always have our memories, For me? well, I'll smile and be thankful for what I have. So, now you have read me - what about you? No, you are not chopped liver. So will you share with me? Thanks - Mary
