Mary's Story
I was born in Tiffin, Ohio. I lived there and attended elementary school and East Junior High. We moved to Melmore when I was a freshman, and I went to Mohawk for a while. When I was 16, I went to live with my mother and ended up back in Tiffin at Columbian. When I was 18 I joined the Air Force and went to basic training then to tech school in Biloxi, Mississippi. My first station was Bergstrom AFB, Texas. I eventually married a guy I met in tech school and got stationed with him at Tinker AFB, Oklahoma. While there I had a baby girl, Tiffany. I got out of the Air Force and returned to Tiffin briefly, but found things had not changed much so I reenlisted in the Air Force and went to Rantoul, Illinois where I had a second baby girl, Brittany. From there we went to Kaiserslautern, Germany for four and a half wonderful years. Upon our return, we ended up at Nellis AFB in Las Vegas, Nevada. This is the home of the Thunderbirds, and that was one of the only good things about Las Vegas. As the saying goes, it's a nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there. However, we did for four years. When the military had personnel cutbacks, I took the opportunity to get my poor children out of Las Vegas and took them back to Tiffin. ty much the same as when I left 17 years previously. While there I couldn't find a job worth anything and ended up using all the money I got when I left the Air Force just to pay the bills. I ended up owning a video store in Bettsville briefly, but when Tiffany and my new grandson, Dax, moved to Colorado Springs I followed along. I've been here for the last 12 years and it is one of the best places I have ever lived. At this time, I am involved in the chocolate business! I make homemade chocolate and sell it to a local college and a couple of local stores, as well as online at etsy.com. I am going to Colorado Technical University to get a degree in accounting. I live with my 13-year-old grandson and two rotten beagles - oh, yeah, and a hamster named Hulu! Right now my favorite things to do are read EVERYTHING, but mostly horror, watch television - reality mostly but I am absolutely in love with The Big Bang Theory - brilliant, and play games - very mature things like Toon Town and Club Penguin. Apparently when I said I don't wanna grow up, I'm a Toys 'R Us Kid, God took me seriously. So while I grow old, I don't grow up. I read somewhere that if you haven't grown up by the time you're 50, you don't have to, so YAY! I'm safe! I'll never be one of those stuffy old people.
