Mary's Story

I was married two times and have two great kids. I have seven Grandkids and the fourth Greatgrand child is due the first week in Aug. 2009. OK I have added this because the baby was born on Aug. 14th 2009 and it is a boy and her first. I don't get to see the others because there mother is still finding her way in life and is young and rebelious and hanging with the wrong people And diffinatly won't listen to her Mom and I. One thing I have learned that if you let them go they will come back to you. Forcing them to do what you want not what they want only pushes them away. I worked as a waitress after school when I was married and then when I divorced and remarried we moved to Las Vegas, where I became a Black Jack Dealer at the Stardust Hotel and Casino. They blew it up last March to make room for a newer and larger Hotel. It was sad to watch. It was on TV. My girlfriend there and I cried, because of all the memories. Then in 1983 I moved back to L.A. and started my own landscaping company. My son worked with me even though he was in school. It kept him out or trouble. One day he wanted to go with his friends for lunch and I said no we have a lot of work today and I will be picking you up early. Later that day the boy he would have been with, who was our land lords son along with another guy were in a car accident. Their car slid right under a truck and the landlords son was injurded very very bad and the other kid who did not like sitting in the front only got scratches and the police said that if my son had been in the car, because he was so tall, that he would have been decapatated. I was shaking and threw up because it really scared me, that if I didn't make him work, he would be dead today. I kept that business until 1999. My son then wanted to do something else and he didn't want me to do the business without him. I respected that and I ended the business, because he was right. The men that L.A. has out there looking for that kind of work were not trust worthy. In fact one guy put his hand on my leg while I was driving one day and I said " I have a gun my my side so I suggest you remove your hand." of course he did. I drove him to the side of the road and said walk home. Of course I had no gun there but he didn't know that. Yes, it was hard work and my son and I enjoyed what we did. It also taught him a trade h...Expand for more
e can use anywhere. I also taught him to put in sprinklers lay new sod. Like I said it kept him out of trouble and alive. I live in Michigan now and my daughter is here also. I live in a nice mobil home and they live 1/2 mile away in a huge historic house in town. I was working for Perrigo the largest pill company in the U.S.. I was there six years and then got hurt. I am now living on SSDI. It gets me by. I have all the things I need in my home it isa very nice mobil home that I paid cash for. What I love the most is if you stay up late at night in the summer you can look out and see all the bunny rabits running around and the squirles that eat all my bird feed. It is fun to watch them. This town is small like La Habra was and there isn't aloI of crime or traffic. YA HOOOOOOOY for that. It is really beautiful here. I go out to Lake Michigan sometimes and fish and play in the sand and swim. We only have a couple of months when the water is warm but it is just like the ocean at times. Well, I mean it has waves and sand. I miss the smell of the ocean though. But I don't miss the sharks. Well, that's it for those of you who keep asking about my life. I am happy and comfortable. I have been single for thirty years now. My children were always my priority since I was a single mom. Many of the men I met in Vegas came over and wanted me to hustle my kids off to the movies. Well, we all know why they wanted to do don't we? I opened the door and said nite nite. If they would have shown the least bit of interest in myself and my children then it would have been different maybe, but I never have been easy and don't plan on changing. Well, that's all folks! Oh I just read this and forgot to say that one of the Great Grandkid lives in Washington State that's why we don't get to see her personally. But she does send pic's over the Internet. I hope all is well for the rest of you and that someday we can figure out why time goes by so fast, because it just doesn't seem fair does it. Take care everyone and let's keep in touch with one another always. New information as of Dec. 2010. The fifth great grand baby has been born on Dec. 14th and there is another one coming at the end of July. I love those little babies and they really love me. Well, God speed to all and may 2011 get better for everyone in the whole United States. Mary
