Mary Elizabeth's Story

Life We have three children, Stephen, Keith and Mary Beth. Stephen lives in CA and is a Senior Software engineer for Motorola Corporation. Mary Beth lives in London where she is in charge of Apple Computer Public Relations for 15 European countries. She loves London and has traveled around the world. Keith is an accomplished musician and composer who teaches piano and plays at festivals all over the Eastern U. S. in the Spring. Summer and Fall. He now has 12 CDs on the market and is having a ball! I am a retired educator and am Vice President of Shaw Phillips Learning Associates, Inc. We produce writing software for elementary grade students. I Can Write Online gives students the confidence to write in various modes, such as descriptive and narrative. Kids love it. It is very affordable. Search for I Can Write Online in Google and you'll find it. I'm trying to do a little writing. I'm keeping a journal so that after I'm gone one of these days, my kids will read things they may not have known about me and didn't think to ask. That's how I feel about Mother. I'd love to spend an afternoon talking with her about her childhood. I know a lot of things, but there are other things I'd like to know. Think about writing down things for your kids. They may want to know also. Louis, my husband, is retired, both from his company (Louis Phillips and Associates) and from working for the Georgia Football Broadcast Team (WSB). He was Larry Munson's spotter for about 40 years. When Larry retired, Louis decided to watch the games from the comfort of our den. This has been a fascinating and rewarding experience for him. Louis builds beautiful furniture and loves gardening. I hope old friends remember me as someone who loved people and also loved to have a good time. I loved to dance and loved to go to parties. I remember that most of my friends loved these same things. Of course, in Crawfordville, basketball was our only big sport. Our school was too small to have a football team. However, now I love football, mostly because of Louie's work with the Georgia Football network. He makes me watch replays of the previous Saturday's game. I have to tell him who's blocking, who missed a tackle, and why the quarterback didn't get his pass off very well. It has made the game a lot more fun. We've been to a ton of bowl games over the years and had a great time. Let's hope the DAWGS find a good quarterback this year. I hear spring practice has begun. GOoooooo, DAWGS! We enjoy sports, movies, concerts and travel. We have a condo in North Carolina where it has snowed a ton of snow this year. Addition to this story: Fall 2010 I...Expand for more
'm writing more, mainly so some of you will be inspired to write. I taught writing (just like Mother), so I know you have a lot to say. Tell us about your children, your crazy horse, your pet dog, your mother in law, your favorite job, your favorite sports, your hobbies, your memories of ASI. -- Anything! We want to hear it. And BRAG! This is one place you can brag, because we all know you and love you. Even if we didn't like each other in high school, remember we were kids. We're now very mature, at least, y'all are. I'm still a kid who laughs a lot, says stupid things and still likes to learn, believe it or not. Well, my little software company would go belly-up if Ann (my business partner) and I didn't just hang on. We have a chance at hiring some really good developers from Lebanon at a great rate. And yes, they're good! We've already been thru a contract with an Indian group that was inept. Did get our money back. But the Lebanese guys come highly recommended by a friend at UGA, so we're hopeful. Software is never finished, and it always, always has glitches that drive me nuts, because I can design the format, but cannot make it work. The thing is, we don't want to get rich. We created a product that is good for kids, and we want it to get used in schools. If we could break even, plus a tiny bit of profit, we would consider our selves successful. We appreciate all prayers and good wishes. And if you're rich, how would you like to invest? Heh! Heh! I cannot wait for Christmas. All our kids come home, and we love each other so much. Just to be together for a week is one of our greatest blessings. I'm singing "O Holy Night" on Christmas Eve. Haven't done that in years. Scared to death, but I'm gonna do it in spite of my fear. I sing in the Prospect UMC choir and we have the greatest director who chooses the best music. We call ourselves the BACs -- Bad Ass Choir. We love each other and work together so well. Okay, all you people, be brave and write your story. How can we connect again, if you remain silent? I'm thinking we need a web page to highlight our school. Washington-Wilkes has one. A lot of schools do. We could put our yearbook on Classmates also. And if you have pictures you can spare, send them to me. Maybe you could make copies to send. I need lots of pics if I create a web page. 2958 Ashton Hill Dr. Dacula GA 30019 Take care. PLEASE let us hear from you. We're wasting our money if we do't use this resource. Also, they have great online games, especially card games,-- Better than I have on iPhone. You might want to try those out. Signing off on 11/15/2010. Love you all. Mary Elizabeth
