Mary's Story

I once said I don't want to do anything the same everyday but get up. I do like the sound of the paper hitting my porch and strong coffee. Then I eat an apple. Beyond that, I like to be surprised. I take a Chinese Brush Painting Class with my sister, Kathleen. I help out with a friend's eight year old whenever I can and another friend's 3 yr old grandson. I like walking especially through the new trails in the Presidio and the gym. I love to cook. I love to socialize with friends. I belong to several museums and the California Academy of Science. and have season tickets to A.C.T. (I remember fondly the times I ...Expand for more
helped fellow classmate Elizabeth "dress" for A.C.T.) I still have sleepovers with my high school friends .I have great kids who are 24 and 27. My days as a Yellow Page Advertising Consultant gave me a broader view of the world, educating me in areas far beyond the scope of my imagination. Kind of like the book "Working" by Studs Terkel.I retired in 2003. I am happy living in the City and would probably never want to leave. I now tutor two days a week through "Reading Partners", a volunteer organization helping kids in public schools with their reading. Very rewarding. Signed up for a second year. Go Giants!!
