Mary's Story
After a decade bouncing between LA and San Francisco, with time out for a year in Manhattan and forays into the deserts of Arizona and the wilds of the Northwest Cascades, I settled in Seattle in the late 1970s. My husband is a former illustrator. We met, decades ago, when we worked together on a project for the Seattle Opera. For 25 years I worked as an advertising writer for local and national agencies, on accounts as lofty as Boeing and, for a brief while, as irritatingly unavoidable as The Juiceman (I'm sorry).
In the mid-90s, Mike and I launched our own business. We manufacture and market performance parts, which he designs, for Mopars (Chrysler, Dodge, and Plymouth) of the muscle car era. (If you have an old beat up Satellite or Scamp taking up space on...Expand for more
the property, we have what you need to install a Hemi or Big block 440 in that loser and turn it into auto auction gold).
My son, Miles, also a writer, lives here in the Northwest, too. We have no grandchildren (yet), but, in addition to Miles, we do have a wonderful unofficial family of youthful, tattooed, pierced, blue and green-haired current and former employees, mostly artists and tech nerds, who we are very fond of. Over the years, we have helped celebrate their graduations, a couple of weddings, a bunch of gallery openings, but no births. Good thing the world does not have to depend on Seattle for re-population.
I love looking at pictures of other people's grandchildren, but the only baby currently in our lives is my husband's 1969 Dart GTS Convertible.
