Mary's Story
Mary Goodman Drahn, 76, died March 18, 2021 with her husband and daughter, Jennifer by her side in Medford, Oregon. A memorial service was held at New Life Church of the Nazarene in Medford on April 10, 2021 at 2:00pm and in Mechanicsburg, PA on June 5, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. Graveside service was held at Newberg Friends Cemetery, Newberg, Oregon on Monday, April 12 at 2:00pm.
Mary Jane Goodman was born December 10, 1944 in McMinnville, Oregon to Charlie and Mary Goodman. Her father was a farmer and served as a marine during WWI. Her mother was a homemaker.
Mary graduated from Hillsboro Union High School in 1963. She attended George Fox College in Newberg, Oregon where she met her husband, Keith (Hilhi, ‘62). They were married June 17, 1966. She graduated with a degree in elementary education in 1967, earning degrees from GFC and Oregon College of Education. Over their nearly 55 years of marriage, they made their home in Salem, Eugene and Prineville, Oregon, Nampa, Idaho and Dillsburg, Pennsylvania. Her last 3 1⁄2 years of life were in Medford, Oregon.

and working in preschools and kindergarten. She volunteered for years in the church nursery. She also enjoyed sewing and quilting, collecting teacups, reading and decorating. Many of her family and friends are still enjoying table runners she quilted especially for them. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends and visited 49 out of 50 states and parts of Canada, much of which she saw from the front seat of their vintage Volkswagen camper. She particularly loved rural farm life and often visited nearby Pennsylvania Amish communities, enjoying the many fabric stores and sampling homemade root beer and other traditional foods.
Mary is survived by her husband, Keith, 2 sons Jonathan (wife Luanne) Drahn, Jason (wife Jennet) Drahn, and 3 daughters Jennifer (husband Joel) Nye, Jolie (husband Young Ju) Lee, and Jessica Tomkins as well as 9 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Davis.
