Mary's Story

Hi there everyone. Well it's been a long time since I've seen most of you - so here's a thumbnail sketch of what I've been up to: I've been happily married to my husband Jack, for 37 years. I have 3 sons, Jason (32), Zach (30) and Sean (28). The older two sons will be getting married this year - so it will be quite a hectic year for us! I retired from ComEd 12 years ago after a very successful career - I met my husband there and we both worked as engineers for the company - Jack, a chemical engineer and myself, an environmental engineer. I had 11 different positions with ComEd in 28 years - all great learning experiences. I finished my Masters in Business Management and Organizational Behavior in 1995 and used those degrees to function as an internal Quality Management Consultant. I've always has a passion for cooking/baking so after retiring, I went back to school and earned a Pastry Arts Degree. I was very involved with cake decorating, desserts catering and chocolate artistry for a few years, managing a small business out of my home. That was a lot of fun and I met a lot of wonderful, renowned cake decor...Expand for more
ators from whom I took classes - lots of classes! But I just loved it! My husband retired a few years back and we decided to kick back and spend our summers in Lake Geneva/Delavan, WI. where we have a second home - so we spend most of our summers biking, walking, boating, fishing, and relaxing on the lake. We shop at the local Farmers Markets weekly for fresh produce and have a lot of fun creating new recipes - we both love to cook. We love exploring all the southern Wisconsin towns and do a bit of antiquing. We love gardening and spend most of our days outdoors, always finding something to do in the yard, which is full of flowers, bushes and trees - my husband seems to have a passion for colorful landscapes. As far as travel, we've been to Mexico several times, almost all the southern and western Caribbean Islands, Canada and all over the USA - we like being close to the water so we love Florida quite a bit. That might just be our next move - who knows, we'll see...these Chicago winters are getting much too cold for us! Would love to hear from my classmates and find out what you've been up to. Fondly, Mary
