Mary's Story
To anyone who might be interested. I've decided not to continue the gold membership so I'll be expired as of August 26th. I hope anyone who has any interest in connecting with me can find me on facebook under Mary McPherson Owens. To all those with whom I've been able to share a note or two, I wish you well and hope your futures years are happy ones! I really didn't know how full your life can be in your 6th decade, but then it seems many of us when we are young can't believe anyone over 50 has any life at all lol! How totally and completely false that belief can be. Even though I've "retired" from my "day job", I've been lucky enough to continue working with children and helping out some older people as well. It's amazing what we can do if we look past ourselves and what we might want to acquire, and share what we have to offer. I've been lucky enough to babysit for a couple with 6 year ...Expand for more
old twins. The boy, autistic, has taught me we are never, ever too old to learn how to give and even more importantly to receive that which is offered through love!!!!! It may sound strange, that's okay, I'm used to that by now, but the older I get, the less I truly need anything of any materialistic nature. Give me a smile, a hug, and the sound of a child's laughter, and I'll consider myself a very rich woman indeed. The old saying about a hundred years from now it won't matter what kind of car we drove, or how much money we had in the bank, or what kind or how expensive of a house we lived in, but whether or not we were important in the life of a child has so much more meaning now than when I first saw it, and wore the sweatshirt!!!!! Filling up the heart has it all over filling up the home with things you later have to either give away, try to sell, or trip over! Love to all! Mary
