Mary's Story

I married Donald Ronquillo on July 6, 1963 and we celebrated our 50 anniversry on July 6, 2013. Don and I live in a Senior Mobile Home park in La Verne CA. We have three children and 10 grandchildren. I retired June 30, 2010 from Rio Hondo College, after working there for 26 years. I tutor one 3rd grader to try to get her reading level up. I also paint landscapes and knit. My husband and I dont travel much just to San Diego and to the casino a couple of times a year and to Arizona to visit our son and his family at least once a year. ur second daughter Marleen lives in Texas. Four of her children visit us at Xmas, Her two daughters live near us but they are in their mid twenty's and busy with their lives, her oldest son has cut off his family, and the younger son is in the Army and is learning Hazmat. My husband has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's so far he is not bad off so we have not change our lives too much. But because of the Alzheimer's his license was suspended so it is more difficult to get around. We can get around our neighborhood with the Getabout and LA county with Access but they take a lot of waiting time so it is nice to also be able to use Uber/Lyft. They are cheeper than the Taxi and take less time picking us up.. .
