David's Story

Life "Life is hard, it's harder if you're stupid." I think John Wayne said it, it's on plack in my office so I don't forget it. Of course I wouldn't need to be reminded of this if I was smart. I like my age, time to think and evaluate. A lot of life seems to just happen unasked for, unplanned and unfortunately unnoticed (at the time). However, in retrospect these have been the best things. Some examples: Marriage Plan-never, Reality-married before 22 yrs old Children Plan-maybe, Reality-7 Career Plan-I had no idea, Reality-Telecom boom Location Plan-live by the beach, Reality-land locked School High School was magical time--little responsibility, lots of freedom, no brains. If I had to do it all over again, I would do it differently, but I'm not sure I could improve on the good memories I have. I could eliminate some of the bad ones though. Best thing--relationships that have matured in to life long friends. College Kicked out of many of the best...Expand for more
schools in the west, UCLA, CU, UNLV. Finally finished though after my second daughter gave me a good talking to from her crib. Degreed in Business, because I didn't know what I wanted to be when I grew up. A problem that persisted for years. Then one day at about 35, I realized I was what I wanted to be. That was a good day. Workplace Not sure I'm ever going to get used to the idea of working. I like to think of it as constructive play, that's on the good days. There is the dark side however; on those days you just do the best you can and you write or call old friends. I like the idea of a life mission, I'm trying to include my job in that concept. My mission: to remind people that life is full of wonder, awe by sharing myself from the heart. Military 4 years in the Air Force, gave me time to grow up and figure a few things out. Like, freedom isn't the ability to do whatever you want. It's the ability to both want and do what is good... And stuff like that.
