Mary's Story

Hello to all you stop by and read my story and be sure to drop me a line if you like. To begin with out of High School, I decided that I was not interested in college, so when to Midland Commercial College for more detail training in office work. First job was with the oil editor at Midland Report Telegram, then on to a oil core lab, at the age of 24 I married Don Robertson, a Midland man and so from that you might understand that I never left Midland, my husband and I helped at my parents dairy until it shut down in 1974. We have 2 children, our son was born in 1981 and a daughter born in 1983. My son is not married and has 2 children 1 girl and 1 boy and my daughter is not married and raising her children a boy and girl. Both of my children still live here in Midland. I lost my husband due to diabetes in May 1999. I have worked out of the home at verious jobs mostly in those relating to the oil and gas development programs with independant companies and presently still work 3 days a week, working all of my adult life. I lead the music program at a little church not far from my home just east of my parents home place and dairy. My life is still active, being a widow has had it's ups and downs. I have been spending some of my time playing with my grand children, with my family and friends, I do not have a lot of set hobbies, I like to mulit-task on all the things I do, I have remodeled my home and presently working on an older home in Coleman, TX for retirement. (by myself for the most part), I sew, draw and paint pictues, write some, raise rabbits, have chickens, dogs, birds, but notice I did not put that I like to cook, that is presently an art of the past, b...Expand for more
ut I have a nice patio and a BBQ pit, if you want to come for hamburgers. I love God, life, my family and friends, I am very laid back and love to laugh and enjoy trying new things. But I see that a lot of men my age are getting motorcycles, that is one thing I have no desire to ride on. I do not smoke nor drink nor have any tatoos, but love to dance. As you can see in my picture I have white hair if you will remember me it was once alburn. I read some, do not have channeled TV, use it for watching movies with the grand children. I have grown up, but sometimes forget the age. I may still be in Midland, just 100's of yards from where I grew up, but I have travel across the seas to Holland with an old friend of mine. I see too that a lot of the baby boomers love to go across the sea, I think I still have a lot of Texas and the US to visit before I go to see Spain, England and other places. I also like to attend the Class Reunions, did not get to go to Washington though and I think the reunions are the greatest if you have not come think about the next one, there are still a lot of us around to visit with. I mentioned that I have a home in Coleman for retirement not sure how many of you have been to Midland within the last 5 years but this town has outgrown it's self, people are not like they use to be, traffic is like other big towns on old streets and commercial oil field related business have joined Midland and Odessa together as well has filling up the suburbs all around, I am no longer in the country where I live. So looked for a quite place to retire. Would love to hear from you, so write, thanks for reading, take care in all things, Mary Sue "Long" Robertson
