Mary's Story
My name in school was Mary Lee Mason. I attended Maribeau B.Lamar Elementary from 3rd Grade to 6th.Horace Mann Jr.High all three years.I got engaged the end of my ninth grade to Ben Abshier of Anuhuac. He had come to live with his sister's family Joyce Casey. I attended dear R.E.Lee only one year for the tenth grade.I was in the Band at Horace Mann but was not popular or in many activities at Lee. I did have a lot of Friends, tho, which I have really missed down through the years. Ben and I did get married the Summer of 1956.And we just celebrated our 55th Anniversary on June 16th . I continued my Education by correspondance through the American School in Chicago .
Although I finished all the requirements and got a Diploma Lee refused to let me "walk" with my 1958 Lee Graduating Class. It was a good Diploma, however,as I later used it to get into LVN Nursing School at Huntsville,Texas years later.
Ben was in Construction(Sheet Metal) and we lived several places in Texas.Bryan,Orange,Spring Branch,Baytown,Orange,Pt.Neches,Beaumont .In 1968 my Father passed away and we moved to Trinity County to be with Mother. We were living on the Trinity River when ...Expand for more
the Lake Livingston was put in. We lived out of Trinity for 16 years. Our children attended Groveton H.S. When our youngest was in the third grade we moved to Ganado,Texas down by Victoria. We lived there over 12 years.Kim,our baby finished College, got married to a local guy and later moved to Rd.Rock,Texas.where she went to work in Accounting at Dell.I told Ben I was ready to go "home" to East Texas. We had nothing left at Sebastopol so moved to Groveton.Later we bought a house in the country at Woodlake.14 miles from Corrigan.35 from Lufkin and about 40 from Huntsville. We love the peace, quiet.and slower pace of retirement life in the country.
WE have five children.12 Grandkids and 25 GreatGK at last count.Another due in August. We are blessed. We've had some health problems but the Lord has seen us through. We are contented.
I would love to hear from any of you.I'd love to hear your life story and see pictures of you and your families.
