Mary's Story
Life
I left Tennessee (and really never looked back) to go to New Orleans in August, 1990 for college at Tulane University. I graduated with a degree in Russian Studies in December, 1993 and then got a job at the university. While working at the university (until June, 2000), I finished a second bachelor's degree in Anthropology. Turns out, I should have done that to begin with...
Now I'm in graduate school working on my Ph.D. in Physical Anthropology/Bioarchaeology (I like old, sick bones - human only) at Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ. Hopefully I'll finish sometime in the current decade! I'm hoping that my research ultimately will take me all over the world - especially China, Peru, Iceland, western Europe in general, Egypt, Polynesia, Australia... well, everywhere. I met my husband, Trevor, in May, 1996 and we got married in May, 2001. We are wonderfully happy and have three sweet kitties who are busy training us to be good pets. Sometime in the next 1-2 years or so (after I finish my dissertation research!) we plan on starting a family. We hope to move someplace where there's WATER and fewer people as soon as I finish graduate school. ...maybe Alaska or the Yukon... Seriously, though, I promised him he could pick the next place, and he wants to go back to the Southeast, so I guess we will. ::sigh::
Our favorite issues are environmental and conservation related, and we hope to have a home completely off the grid and environmentally friendly someday. Until then, we do what we can and faithfully watch "The Daily Show" and "The Colbert Report" every night and the new "Battlestar Galactica" every weekend. :)
