Mary's Story
Life
I worked for IBM for about 1 year and half, and then went into the military. I got married in 1996. Had a son in 1997.I moved to Arkansas for almost 1 year. I moved to Florida, and started on an RN program which I'm currently doing now. I've now had to drop out to the RN program. I plan on going into this hyperbaric oxygen therapy program in Florida. I did get a divorce from my husband, but we still keep in touch through the internet. He lives in Vermont, and I live in Florida. I started 2 years ago-2005 to work for Target in the Garden Center.I left Target in June of 2008. I am working on a Medical Transcription program. I still live in Florida. The son is now 12, and has a brown belt in Tae kwon do. He started almost 2 years ago. He has about 5 more belts and he'll be a black.
School
I had great fun. I remember doing many field trips to active volanoes, and cloud forests. I grew up in a tropical country. I l remember in 1988 seeing Haley's comet. I also hiked the country's highest mountain at about 12,000 feet. I do see some of my high school friends when I go back to visit.I am going to be starting in a few weeks a CNA program here, I know there's demand.
College
After I finished at Trinity, I stayed in Vermont for some time. I worked there, met an older man, started dating. I was ...Expand for more
in the Army for a while. Then I got married. I now have a 5 year-old son. I live in Florida with my mom. I am pursing a degree in Nursing at a lcoal college. I am now pursuing another field relating to health: hyperbaric oxygen therapy. It's a fairly new program at a local college in Florida. I will be working at a hyperbaric chamber very near where I live.
Workplace
I first started at McDonalds as a summer job between the summer and the fall of my last year at Trinity 1993. I then worked at a nursing home/paper route 1994. I then went to IBM for more than one year 1995-1996. I have had numerous odd jobs in Florida, mainly filing and answering phones. I am presently not working, but am looking for work. I do have this great woman at Coastal Staffing who gets me some good jobs. I might have to call her, to see if she has anything. I have now been working at a local Target store in the Garden Center. I"ve been there almost two years. I no longer work for Target. I also help out in the local elections.
Military
I joined in spring of 1995- I think. I was in the guard doing weekend duty. I went to basic training in Missouri-Fort Leonardwood. I did like it, but I decided that I did not really like it that much. I think the regimentation was too strong. I do respect those who are in the armed forces.
