Mary's Story
I am living a very pleasant life in Ashland, Oregon. Ashland is the home of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and, like Santa Barbara, is bombarded with tourists every summer. As a result I try very hard NOT to look like a tourist when we travel.
I married Hal Townsend in 1983 and we have 2 children. Ethan was born in 1985 and is a graduate student in physics at CU Boulder. Our daughter was born in 1987 and is a graphic design major at Western Washington University in Bellingham. We still spend time in Santa Barbara where my parents are still living in the same house we grew up in. using since the last time I saw most of them, we were 18.
My husband and I are in the process of building a new home, hoping the recession will work in our favor. We were inspired to build once our kids left home...go figure.
We still try to stay active, we water ski, snow ski, river raft and play softball. Ashland makes it easy with a mountain, rivers and lakes within a few minutes of home, it makes you feel guilty if you don't take advantage of the beautiful recreational opportunities available.
I hope we will be able to plan another reunion and include a larger percentage of our class...thanks to all of those who worked so hard to make this one happen.
